At the recent Glendale AGM President James Grant announced his intention not to stand for re-election and stood down after many years at the helm. Jim joined the club in season 1978-79 from Cove Thistle as a “Dashing Winger” and is best remembered playing wise for scoring a screamer from 25 yards in a 4-3 win against King Street A in the semi final of the Gentry Cup at Inverdee, Glendale eventually going on to lift what was their first ever trophy. Also known as a tough tackling full back Jim joined the committee soon after before accepting the role of President in the early 80’s. His commitment to the cause can never have been questioned over the years and his “voice” on the sideline will be sorely missed. However Jim was proposed for and accepted the position of Honorary President. His successor was also announced, Christopher Duncan. Chris joined the club in season 2003/04  and was part of the team that season which won the Bowie Cup. Doog as he is better known saw his time at the club blighted by injury but his knowledge of the game was obvious and  became coach at the club  in 2008/09  helping guide the club to it’s first ever  and to date only league title the Div 2 East championship. A new secretary was also elected as Jim Brechin stepped aside to be replaced by Richard Fearn. Jim now becomes 2nd contact as he mentors his successor through what will be hopefully the beginning of a new and successful chapter for the club.
