Glendale traveled the short distance to Inverdee to face Bridge of Don in a league match on Saturday hoping to string 3 victories together for the 1st time this season but were left frustrated after a timed performance.
Glendale kicked off but were almost behind in the 1st minute when calamitous defending saw the ball head for the net until Craig McRae managed to hook it off the line, However in Don’s next attack they did score when poor defending again gave WRIGHT a clear sight of goal and he buried it in the corner. On 3 minutes Dale were level when Connor Pirie swung in a corner from the right and Mark Robb headed it back across goal for ALLY BLACK to score from close range. Glendale had a stiff breeze in their favour and Ryan McRae tested Garrow with a howitzer from 25 yards which the keeper gathered at the 2nd attempt while Derek McKenzie tipped another effort from Wright over his bar as both sides went for it. Bridge of Don scored again on 27 minutes with the Glendale defence once again in disarray, A long throw into the penalty box went unchallenged and bounced through to CLARK who said “thank you very much” as he swept the the ball home from 6 yards. The remainder of the half saw the home team dominate as Glendale struggled to put passes together. H.T 2-1.
Bridge of Don carried on where they left off in the 2nd half and as they now had the breeze on their backs pinned Dale back and McKenzie had to be brave as rushed out to dive at the feet of Wright as the attacker broke through and on 65 minutes the goal Don had been threatening arrived again though Glendale’s defending contributed.Craig McRae was robbed just inside his own half and although Wright still had a lot to do he made space for himself brilliantly before setting up CLARK who sidefooted past McKenzie for his 2nd of the afternoon. As the wind died Glendale finally began to string some passes together as they enjoyed their best spell of the afternoon and Russel MacPhee almost brought his team back into the game with a shot from distance which scrapped the bar on its way over and with 4 minutes left Dale scored again from a corner this time Ryan McRae headed back across goal and ALLY BLACK thrashed the ball into the net from close range but time ran out on what can only be described as a disappointing afternoon.
M.OM Connor Pirie.
