Match Report

Glendale secured a much needed victory against Westdyke at a typically windy Lawsondale last night.

Dale impressed from the start playing against the wind with Danny Lechner and James McMahon combining well up front and it was from a move involving the front pairing from which Glendale took the lead on 20 minutes  as the home defence struggled to clear DARREN BUCHAN struck from fully 20 yards to give Wright no chance. Westdyke struck the bar with cross from the right which Derek McKenzie just got his finger tips too while Home keeper Wright produced a spectacular save to deny Lechner. H.T 0-1

Westdyke made a determined start to the 2nd half but a combination of poor finishing and strong defending from Alex McMahon,Ryan McRae and Cammy Wright in particular kept them at bay and with 15 minutes to go Glendale scored again when J McMahon crossed for DANNY LECHNER to score from 6 yards. On 80 minutes Westdyke pulled a goal back, NEIL collected a long pass showed good control to step inside and shoot past McKenzie. Westdyke pushed hard for an equalizer but Glendale’s impressive back three were in no mood to give anything away and comfortably saw the game out.
