Glendale suffered their biggest defeat for many a year as they succumbed to promotion chasing Beacon Rangers on the tight confines at Bucksburn Academy. It was a game of two halves and Glendale were rubbish in both!
The first 45 minutes saw Beacon race into a 4-0 lead in a half which saw an incredible 51 throw ins shared between the teams! Add free kicks, goal kicks and corner kicks into the mix and it was not a game for the purist’s. Any moments of brilliance belonged to the home side with the 3rd goal in particular worthy of mention as the winger cut along the bye line and fired a beauty into the far corner giving Alex Henderson no chance.
The second half saw a brief rally from Glendale but normal service was soon resumed as Beacon were relentless going 7-0 ahead before James McMahon scored a consolation only for Beacon to go straight up the park and make it an “Eightsome reel”. But for a couple of decent saves from Henderson and the woodwork [3 times] the scoreline could have been much worse.
A night to forget for Glendale unfortunately it will be a scoreline which will be remembered for a long time.
