Match Report

Glendale were back on league duty on Saturday as they welcomed Beacon Rangers to Maryculter. Before the game there was a warm round of applause for Glendale legend Steven Abercrombie as he took his seat in the stand and”Ted” would have approved as Dale took the lead in only 5 minutes through youngster JAMES McMAHON as he robbed the centre back inside the box and curved a beauty into the far corner. Taylor stung the palms of Muirhead as Beacon tried to hit back but on 20 minutes after a swift break Baker dived into GRAEME OAG for a clear penalty and Oag stuck away the spot kick with ease. Half an hour gone and it was that man OAG again who picked up the ball in mid field and created  space for himself to unleash a shot from 20 yards that Sorley could only help into his net. Just on half time James McMahon proved he is human by scooping the ball past the post from 3 yards with the goal at his mercy. HT 3-0.

Glendale never reached the same heights in the second half although Lewis Brown did strike the metal work twice. Beacon pulled what should have been a consolation back on 65 minutes when TAYLOR was left with time and space to side foot past Muirhead then on 80 minutes the normally reliable Muirhead was left red faced as he delayed too long with the ball at his feet allowing REID to charge down his clearance and the ball trickled into the empty net. With 2 minutes to go substitutes Callum Stewart and CRAIG REID combined with the latter scoring from close range to finally secure all 3 points for the Dale.
