Glendale brought their league programme to an end with yet another scoreless draw against relegation threatened West End at Maryculter on Saturday. Glendale created the first chance of the afternoon when Callum Stewart cut inside from the right and fired a shot just wide of Bathgate’s goal. West End then created a good chance for themselves but Gibson shot wide from 8 yards. The best chance however fell to Graeme Oag when a long clearance from Neil Innes found it’s way through to Oag but with just the keeper to beat screwed his shot well wide. Dale continued to press but lacked quality in the final third and the half ended in stalemate. The 2nd half was barely 10 minutes old when Mark Robb pulled up with a hamstring injury with Liam Shaw brought on as his replacement. Nicolo Gazzi was prominent for West End on the right wing as they pushed for what would have been a vital 3 points but again a glorious chance was passed up by Dale as Oag again burst through only to take a heavy touch allowing Bathgate the chance to gather. Bathgate then produced the save of the match when he brilliantly tipped Shaw’s piledriver over the bar. Best for Dale were central defenders Neil Innes and Jonny Reith who strolled through the match while Russel MacPhee got through a power of work.
