Glendale suffered their heaviest defeat of the season when they faced Bervie Caley in a re-arranged league game at a blustery Gourdon on Saturday.
Play was even early on although Glendale survived a penalty shout when Stuart Hay appeared to control the ball with his arm inside his own box but referee Mitchell waived play on.However a mistake by the normally reliable Alex McMahon gave the Bervie striker a clear view of goal and he side footed past Alex Henderson to give his side the lead on the 20 minute mark.
Straight from the re start Greame Oag battled his way through a number of challenges and past to Kriss Geddes but his shot was high and wide. Good play down the right by Callum Stewart presented Geddes with an even better chance but he delayed too long allowing Bervie to scramble the ball away.Half time 1-0 to the home side.
The second half was a none event for Dale who were simply over run. A corner on the hour mark saw the home team increase their lead when the ball floated over the arms of Henderson and the Bervie striker easily bundled the ball over the line from close range.A long distance shot from Neil Innes was all Dale could offer in reply as Bervie went on to score twice more to run out convincing winners.Few if any of the Glendale players would deserve pass marks for this performance and a massive improvement will be required IF they are to remain in the promotion chase!
